Create apps or plans that can empower the youth with financial literacy

WHAT TO MAKE?

A prototype of an app or website that tackles financial literacy (tech route)

OR

A business plan of an organization that promotes financial literacy (business route)

SO WHAT COUNTS AS PROMOTING FINANCIAL LITERACY?

Financial literacy refers to the understanding of the concept of money but this competition encompasses a much broader definition. Basically, anything that can solve overlooked personal financial problems or educate the youth about how to manage their money wisely will be good starting points for this competition's submissions!

DO I HAVE TO CODE WHEN I CHOOSE THE TECH ROUTE?

No! Coding is encouraged but we focus more on the quality and implementation of the idea. So participants just need to come up with a creative idea and design an effective user interface through a prototyping software to implement it.

WHAT PROTOTYPING TOOLS CAN I USE?

We recommend using tools such as Axure (Free trial), Mockplus, JustinMind (Free Trial) or Wix for prototyping mobile apps, web apps and websites. For more prototyping tips, you can attend the Prototyping Crash Course at 8 too!

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE IN MY BUSINESS PLAN?

Anything that makes your business plan stand out! Feel free to look for a traditional template, but honestly, we are just looking for a business plan that helps explain your idea and keeps readers engaged.

WHAT ARE PREMILINARY SUBMISSIONS?

Preliminary submissions are an mid-way checkpoint for participants to submit what they created so far, so that our judging panel will have a good understanding of how groups are progressing. However, our team will not use preliminary submissions to decide the winner and instead, we will give feedback to groups that made their preliminary submissions!

HOW DO SUBMISSIONS WORK?

For participants taking the tech route,

First things first, sign up for an account of DevPost and register for the competition on this site. Then, simply click "Enter a Submission" and fill out the required fields on the page. But remember to include a video demo that clearly explains the features and functionality of your app/website through a comprehensive demonstration!

For participants taking the business route,

As a business plan itself is an elaborate tool to demonstrate a business idea, the submission process will be more straightforward. What you need to do is to upload onto your Google Drive and send in the link to your business plan in a PDF format along with a video of a startup pitch in MP4/AVI format to the following email: tartanfinnovation@gmail.com.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask us at tartanfinnovation@gmail.com.
